Want to do a Triathlon but have never done one before?

Then the Activ Triathlon Coaching Beginners’ Course is for you….

Activ Tri Coaching is soon to hold its First Beginners Triathlon Training Course to accommodate novices and those who wish to refresh their swim, bike and run skills.

When: October 3rd to October 23rd, 2011

Where:

  • Swim - Somerville House
  • Bike - Activ and Nundah Cycling Track
  • Run Storey Bridge and UQ

 

Cost: Only $349       (Activ Members $299)

The four week course includes:

Swim

  • 3 stroke correction/technique sessions
  • 3 Strength and stroke sessions
  • Group and open water swimming confidence
  • Transition training

Bike

  • 3 indoor CompuTrainer sessions (Plus can attend additional other scheduled classes)
  • 3 skills sessions covering all skills from mounting and dismounting to climbing and descending.
  • A bike safety check
  • Basic bike maintenance instruction

Run

  • Technique assessment and feedback.
  • 6 run training sessions designed to target different energy systems and teach pacing.
  • Two functional (core) stability sessions.

Swimming Sessions

Stroke correction:


Monday evenings October 3rd , 10th, 17th and

Commencing at 6pm from Sommerville House.

Stroke and strength:

Wednesday evenings October 5th, 12th and 19th Commencing at 6pm from Sommerville House.

Indoor CompuTrainer Sessions: at Activ Cycle Coaching, 391 Montague Rd, West End

16th, 13th, and 20th at 6.45am till 8am (Specific to Course)

 

Outdoor Riding Sessions

8th and 15th Oct from 10.30am Nundah Cycling Track

 

22nd Oct From 6.30am Activ Cycle Coaching

Run Sessions

Threshold runs:

 

Tuesday evenings October 4th, 11th and 18th

Commencing at 6pm (car-park under Storey Bridge city side,

just down from All Hallows GS).

 

Long easy aerobic runs: Sunday afternoons commencing at

2pm from the netball courts, Adjacent to the rowing sheds at UQ.

Lectures

  • Saturday October 15th commencing at 2pm (from Activ) “Building a Training Program”.
  • Saturday October 22nd commencing at 10am (from Activ) “Basic Sports Nutrition”

Graduation

Celebration to wrap up course after the last long run on Sunday.

 

Optional Sessions

These sessions are part Activ Cycle and Activ Triathlons’ normal training. You are more than welcome to join one of these sessions; however we recommend you talk with one of the coaches to make sure that the session is suitable for you.

  • Outdoor Cycling sessions: 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th at 5.15am till 7am
  • Indoor CompuTrainer Sessions: 12th and 19th at 5.15am till 6.30am
  • Running Strength-endurance: 6th, 13th and 20th Commencing at 6pm from the netball courts, Adjacent to the rowing sheds at UQ.
